Today was the 1st core training for the YOG event in August, I think.
Haha.
It was about facilitation skills.
At first, we all came in with no idea of what we are going to go through.
We started off with a quick brief of what's going to happen at Marina Barrage.
Yes, the YOG athletes will be going to Marina Barrage during their stay here.
It's part of their activities.
And I have to help out there.
My station is, Water Sampling.
Haha.
The purpose of these activities are simply to create awareness and spread the message on environmental issues going on around the world.
We want to share with them the different types of issues such as water shortage, pollution, energy conservation, etc.
Ok, back to the training just now.
Training started off really fun.
The trainer there, Ikram, is really fun.
He was able to hype us up within minutes.
He told us to bring our chairs to the front.
Then, it was a one minute of silence where everyone wasn't talking but just staring at each other.
Haha.
That moment was funny.
We all looked so blank.
He was just looking at us and nod his head.
Haha.
Seriously, don't know what was happening.
Then he told us that if we do not know what to talk, that will happen.
The athletes will just look at you and you look at them and just keep quiet wondering what's happening.
Haha.
The only group of people there are just SP and RP students.
So, he told us to pair up with a student from another Poly.
So, I paired with this guy in blue.
Coincidentally, I wore blue too just now.
We were to communicate with our pair without using words but facial expression.
Haha.
Funny to the max.
I was made to come up front to show them how me and my pair make a lovely stare.
Haha.
Then we were made to say "I miss you so" to each other.
Haha.
So, the ice-breaking continues. The way he breaks the ice is simply awesome.
He makes it seem so easy.
I will then just skip to the presentation part.
Presentation was super funny.
I never had so much laughter for a long time.
We were all suppose to present an ice-breaking game and relate it to our topic(War, Terrorism, Water Shortage and Global Warming.)
There was one team who presented on Water Shortage.
This is an absolute epic.
Haha.
Seriously, I laughed my ass off just now.
They started the presentation as though it was their first time presenting.
So, their game was to snatch away a water bottle from a person.
The person was to never let it go.
So, everyone tried to snatch it away from the person but failed.
Right after they end the game, one of them said,
"This is water shortage".
HAHAHAHAHA!
I can still laugh while I'm typing.
Haha.
Everyone was simply laughing.
It was really funny ah.
Hahaha.
Another group presented on Global Warming.
Their game was the Squirrel, Tree and Earthquake.
For those who don't know the game, it goes like this.
2 squirrels will hide under a tree, formed by 2 person.
When there is an earthquake, one tree will die and they need to find another tree.
So, after the game.
Their message was,
"So, when there is a forest fire, squirrels will have no trees to live in as the fire burnt down the trees. So, that causes.."
There was a pause and another person continues,
"Global Warming!"
HAHAHAHA!
When there are no trees, that causes global warming??
Hahahaha.
I really enjoyed myself just now.
After the presentations, we were told which stations we will be in by calling out our names.
When my name was called out, I stood up and everyone was like just staring at me.
I knew why and I'm sure those who know me know why too.
For those who don't know, it's because they were shocked to know that I'm a Malay.
Haha.
I get that always.
So, after that, we went for our break and as soon as I stepped out, some people were like asking me if I'm Malay.
Haha.
Expected.
Then they asked me which of my parents is Chinese and I said none.
And they were shocked and asked if I have any Chinese blood running in the family.
I think my mum's granddad or grandmum is a Pranakan.
I think la.
So, went back in the lecture theater and into our groups.
Then came two Malay girls who were put into the same group as me.
They immediately asked me if I'm Malay and ya, I am.
Haha.
They said I looked the typical Chinese but talked like a typical Malay.
And they said that I'm cute.
Hee.
=)
We then carry on with our brainstorming and discussions on the possible problems we could face and the solutions to them.
And with that, we wrapped the training up.
I'm so looking forward for tomorrow's training at Marina Barrage.
But it starts at 10 a.m.
Haiya..
Need to wake up early.
K then.
Bye people.
